LCI HAS COME AND GONE!!!!

Well this past weekend we spent 5 days on Lake Champlain. Had such a wonderful time! Did not really slay the fish but caught a few. Nothing spectacular. I was able to enter 2 Largemouth into the derby, just for points they did not come close to placing in the top ten .One was 3.30 lbs. and the other was 2.75 lbs. , But we go up there to have a great time ,and that's what we did. If we ever place then that is a bonus. This was Jessica's first time in the derby , she had a blast. I was able to keep her interested by trolling in the mornings and letting her catch fish. Then in the evenings I was able to concentrate on my fishing. I can not express enough the amount of fun we had.. I'm posting  a few pics of our weekend. I also posted a picture of the new LCI tournament record Lake Trout, this was a amazing fish!!!Here's to many more years of Team Freaky Fish in the LCI!!!!

LCI WEEK HAS ARRIVED!!!

Well by this time on Friday I will be on the road and making the trip north for the LCI Fathers Day Derby. It really came up quick on us. Seems like yesterday we were mentioning how it was a month  away.  Anyway last night Jessica and I went and did a little fishing in the rain. I had bought a new bait caster last week and was eager to try it out. I bought the Abu Garcia Revo , rod and reel combo. I really liked the looks of the setup . White reel with white pole. I fished with it for about 1/2 hour just to see if I was going to like it. I must say it is probably the best reel I have ever bought. The pole is a little more flexible then I am used too I normally like the stiff rods with not much flexibility. This rod is more of a medium action. Will take time getting used to it for sure but overall I am very happy with the purchase. This was also a chance for Jessica to get used to a open face reel.  Prior to being in a relationship with me, Jessica was very much a girly girl. She still is high maintenance, but she is getting better. She really has fell in love with fishing. I'm hoping she will work hard and move up to a bait caster . She has always fished with worms only and never used lures. I am complete opposite, I never fish with worms and only use lures. So I bought her some worms and set her pole up and let her go to town. She hammered the bluegill. She had a lot of fun and it made me happy to see that she was enjoying herself. I love making memories with her. By the end of the LCI she will be a pro.. She truly is a trooper, wanted to go fishing even though it was pouring. Nothing bothers her!!
